Review of A Call To Action: Women, Religion, Violence, and Power by Jimmy Carter

This is a comprehensive look at the abuses of women worldwide and the justifications we find for it. While I’m sure that people will find flaws and missing topics, it’s an excellent place to start, especially if you want to take action.

My favorite things:

  • religion is cited throughout the book as both erroneous justification for abuse and as a reason to not do it.
  • it covers many religions
  • it covers this topic from a global perspective
  • it covers what has worked as well as we what didn’t, where, and possible reasons why
  • it also includes women’s rights as human rights

There’s a lot left to be done, and this book covers quite a bit of it. Let’s get started.
