A Dime for Your Dreams

I think the feminist struggle I am most passionate about is my belief that every woman has a gender specific birthright to feel beautiful. And, I mean every woman. When I was a teenager, I used to be highly critical of other girls and women and the personal image that they presented in public. I would critique their outfits, hair, makeup, and whatever else I could get my self-loathing teen claws into.

This practice of demeaning other women didn’t last long, though, as I quickly came to the all too obvious realization that who was/am I to criticize this woman and form any opinion of what kind of person she is based solely on her appearance. Maybe this woman has just as much of an image problem as I do or maybe her outfit is a reflection of her self-confidence or the lack of. My perspective changed and I quickly…
